The Versatile Blogger Award: 7 Things About Me

Two weeks ago I was nominated for the Versatile Blogger award by Strictly Lighthearted, so first and foremost, I’d like to say, thank you to Muna for the nomination.

What’s the Versatile Blogger Award? To be honest I’m not entirely sure. All I know is that if you are nominated, there are certain rules you have to follow in response.

The rules are:

  • Write a blog post about the award
  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Share 7 things about yourself
  • Nominate 15 other bloggers

It’s taken me a while to actually create a blog post in response to my nomination. I had to take some time to consider which bloggers I would nominate in return, and also, figure out what sorts of things I would write about myself. As you probably know, these things do take time.

Well, I’ve finally figured it out, so without further ado, courtesies of Thought Catalog, here are 7 things about me 🙂

1. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extravert?

Neither really. I’m more of an ambivert, which basically means, I swing both ways. Sometimes I crave social interaction like it’s my life force. Other times, the idea of being around others can be positively draining. Ultimately, I need a good balance of social time and alone time in order to feel my best.

2. When do you think a person is ready for marriage?

I have a pretty specific philosophy about this. Basically, I don’t think any person is really ready for marriage until after they turn 25. Up until that point, your brain is still growing and maturing. You don’t truly have a full understanding of yourself until you turn 25, so how can you know whether or not marrying someone is the right thing for you? After 25 it’s fair game. If you’ve decided that your life is far better with that special someone than it is without, then you’re probably ready.

3. What’s the one thing you would change about yourself?

Sometimes I think the answer to this question is easy: I would change my anxiety. Other days I wonder if perhaps there’s something about my anxiety that makes me special. Sometimes I can feel my anxiety in a very energetic way, and in those instances, it can be channeled into creativity. On these days, I have a deep appreciation for it. Then there are the days where it feels like my brain is out to get me. Those are the one that make me wish anxiety weren’t a thing in my life.

4. Are you religious or spiritual?

I consider myself to be a spiritual person, but I don’t believe in the traditional God that most religious people do. I don’t believe in God as a humanoid type being who created heaven and Earth. I believe that God was created when the universe was formed and that God is a part of everything. In my interpretation, I see God as more of a force – a divine mother – sort of like the figurative Mother Nature, except much, much bigger than that.

5. Is what you’re doing now what you always wanted to do growing up?

Yes and no. There were many things I wanted to be when I was a child. And of those many things, the one thing that kept popping up consistently was writer. Well, I am happy to say that these days, I am a writer. But I’m not the kind of writer that I wanted to be. I imagined myself writing novels – tales of great adventure and love, children’s stories, epic poems, and other fun stuff like that. I’m not there yet, but it’s the direction I would like to go.

7. Would you relocate for love

Absolutely. 100% yes.

8. Do you judge a book by its cover?

Are we talking about actual books here? Because if that’s the case, I often choose books based on whether or not they have a cover that looks interesting to me. If we’re talking about people, I feel like this is a hard question not to say yes to. As human beings, we are designed to make judgments of people and things. This helps us to determine whether or not these people and things pose a potential threat. I think it’s natural to create a first impression on people based on how they look. But I also believe in the importance of giving those people the opportunity to show you who they are, regardless of what your first impressions are.

And now for my nominations…
