My Feelings About Stitch Fix
So, I decided to try Stitch Fix per the recommendation of a friend, so I’d like to do a little review of my first experience.
I signed up for my first Stitch Fix box in April, and had to wait nearly a month to actually receive my first fix, which seems a little lengthy to me. When met with the prospect of getting new clothes, the sooner I get them the better.
I will say, I was pleased to find that my box actually arrived one day before it was originally scheduled to arrive, so that was a nice surprise.
When I opened my box however, I was a little disappointed in what I’d been sent…
Stitch Fix gives you the option to link a Pinterest board to your profile so that your stylist can get an idea of what sort of clothing you like. for the most part, I don’t feel like the items I was sent really matched my board at all.
Now, I will say, I don’t really tend to dress very edgy. My style is a little more classic and simple. But I did request an outfit that would be more on the edgy side because I was planning to go to a concert. I think my stylist did a good job picking out an edgy outfit that matched my taste, but, I didn’t really like the fit of the top. It was just a little too loose, too shapeless and too unflattering for my body. (see below)
The shirt was actually really cute, it just didn’t fit me the way I would have liked it to. I was also sent a pair of skinny jeans to be paired with the shirt, and although they cost a little more than I would usually spend on a pair of jeans, I did decide to keep them.
My Stitch Fix box also contained another shirt that I really wanted to like, but it just didn’t fit me well at all. It was really loose up top and just a little too snug on bottom, and it created a really unattractive bunching that I just wasn’t feeling.
Finally, I received a dress and a bracelet, both of which I pretty much hated at first sight. The dress was a nice color, but it was patterned in a way that I just really couldn’t get on board with. Also, the cut was not really my style. I prefer more flowy and lofty dresses. This one felt stiff and just, too rigid I guess. Also, the bracelet, I just, couldn’t even begin to comprehend.
Over all, I was less than pleased with my Fix. I would have liked to see more color and clothing that fits a little better. I guess it’s partially my own fault for requesting a style that really isn’t me. If I want to create an edgy look that caters to what I like, I’d probably be better off doing that on my own. So, from now on, I’ll stick to making requests for my regular style. Hopefully my next box is better. We’ll see how it goes.
I did enjoy the experience over all. It was fun to receive my Stitch Fix Box and try on all the clothing. It was also really fun to rate everything after trying it on. Made me feel like a fashion critic. I think that with what the Stitch Fix Stylists will be able to learn about me with this first box, based on my ratings and all, that they’ll really be able to do better next time.
